Isuzu Philippines Corporation recently turned over 205 trucks to the Philippine Army in a formal ceremony held at Camp General Servillano A. Aquino in Tarlac City. Isuzu dealers Makati and Tagum were both part of the handover, which added a sizeable fleet of purpose-built military vehicles to the Army's growing inventory.
The batch breaks down into 117 NPS and 88 FTS units, all fitted with troop carrier bodies built for moving personnel, gear, and supplies across a wide range of missions, from standard field operations to disaster response and relief efforts.
The bodies were manufactured by F. Cura Industries, a body builder with a solid track record in delivering durable, functional configurations for demanding operational use. Both models are 4x4-equipped, which matters a lot when you factor in the kind of terrain Philippine Army units regularly deal with, think unpaved mountain roads, flood-prone areas, and remote provinces where road conditions can go from bad to worse fast.
On the lighter end of the lineup, the NPS belongs to Isuzu's N-Series, a range that has long been one of the brand's best sellers in the commercial segment. It runs on the 4HK1-TCN Blue Power diesel engine, which strikes a reasonable balance between performance and fuel economy. Its more compact footprint also gives it an edge in tighter environments, whether navigating urban streets or weaving through narrow rural routes.
The FTS units handle the heavier end of the workload. Pulled from the F-Series medium-duty lineup, these trucks are powered by the 6HK1-TCN engine, putting out 236 hp and 706 Nm of torque. That output gives the FTS the muscle to haul heavier loads over longer distances and tackle steeper gradients without breaking a sweat. For missions that demand range and payload capacity, it fills that role well. Both models carry EURO IV certification, aligning with the government's broader push toward cleaner fleet standards.
The ceremony was led by IPC Executive Vice President Yasuhiko Oyama alongside Major General Florante Piol Sison, Commander for Support Command of the Philippine Army.
