Last year, Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation (SFP) conducted its first-ever fuel eco run featuring the Canter Express Modern PUV (Class 3). Now, Fuso is putting three more of its trucks to the test, the three trucks a Canter FE73, Canter FE85-S, and an FJ 2528R along with its media partners, Auto Industriya, and testing partners, the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).

The challenge that these trucks will go through is the same as last year’s eco run. The three trucks will set off from Carworld, Inc. – Fuso San Fernando, Pampanga to Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan. The route covered 158.3 kilometers in total and featured a combination of traffic, uphill and downhill areas, city roads, and suburban driving conditions.

From their starting point, the trucks traveled the entire course loaded with weight, equivalent to 8000 kgs for the FJ 2528R, 2,700 kgs for the Canter FE85-S, and 1,000 kgs for the Canter FE73 to demonstrate delivery and trucking scenarios, as well as achieve reliable and accurate results.

The 2023 Fuso FJ 2528R M/T was loaded with eight tons of sand sacks, the 2023 Fuso Canter FE85-S 3.0L M/T with 2.7 tons, and the 2023 Fuso Canter FE73 3.0L M/T with 1 ton. During the run, all three trucks were carrying approximately half their capacity.

Each truck was inspected by representatives from the AAP, they inspected tire pressure, load, and fuel to get consistent and accurate results by the end of the run. The drivers of the three trucks were accompanied by the Sojitz Fuso team to help achieve successful results and good mileage by applying correct driving techniques and following traffic rules.

The eco run lasted a little over five hours traveling at speeds between 60 to 80 km/h. The trucks faced average daily traffic, climbs, and descents, despite these, the trucks achieved commendable results.

Starting from the smallest truck of the three, the 2023 Fuso Canter FE73 3.0L M/T had the best result at 11.22 km/l, the 2023 Fuso Canter FE85-S 3.0L M/T consumed 7.15 km/l, meanwhile, the largest truck of them all, the 2023 Fuso FJ 2528R M/T, got 3.7 km/l.
