This year’s 2022 FIFA World Cup has Hyundai as the event’s mobility partner. Hyundai will provide eco-friendly mobility solutions, with a total of 616 vehicles.

Hyundai is the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup this year, and all of its 616-vehicle fleet will be eco-friendly with a good mix of Hybrid-Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV).

Not only will this be one of the biggest eco-friendly fleets to be deployed at a world-class event, but it’s also the first time that the FIFA World Cup will get a full fleet of green vehicles. The scale of the event will bring football athletes and enthusiasts from all over the world to Doha, Qatar, and Hyundai will be there to provide mobility solutions.

As for the brand’s fleet, it will be comprised of the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Sonata HEV, Tucson HEV, and the Kona HEV for most of the passenger hauling duties. The Genesis G80 EV and GV70 EV will transport FIFA VIPs and staff. Meanwhile, Hyundai Elec City buses will be on-call for members of the media.

To keep the vehicles running, Hyundai will be operating roadside charging services for BEVs that need a top-up. In addition to that, Hyundai will also be showcasing and utilizing their models’ Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function on the IONIQ 5 BEVs. Conversely, FIFA will provide 100 to 150 kW EV chargers at the event’s facilities to ensure continuous EV operation.

On top of that, all the Hyundai vehicles will be monitored for any breakages and anomalies. As such, Hyundai will be in charge and equipped to handle any necessary repairs, troubleshooting, or inspections as needed, if at all.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, 2022. All the Hyundai Vehicles deployed will be on standby for ferrying duties and will also be on the world stage for everyone to see.
