The Philippine truck market held its ground in 2025, according to newly released consolidated data from the Truck Manufacturers Association, Inc. (TMA), pointing to steady demand despite shifting economic conditions.
Figures compiled from TMA and the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) show that truck sales remained largely stable throughout the year, supported by continued activity in logistics, construction, manufacturing, and public services. Category III trucks led the market with 6,783 units sold, followed by 3,690 units from Category IV (including buses), and 890 units from Category V heavy-duty trucks. The spread highlights the ongoing need for commercial vehicles across a wide range of payload and operational requirements.
Compared to 2024, overall volumes were mostly unchanged, suggesting the market has settled into a more normalized pace after earlier fluctuations tied to supply and inventory adjustments. Ongoing infrastructure projects and steady economic activity across the country helped keep demand consistent, underlining the role of trucks as a backbone for trade and day-to-day business operations.
Looking ahead, TMA expressed optimism for 2026, citing the achievement of its 2025 sales targets as a strong base for continued growth. The association pointed to sustained government infrastructure programs, improving logistics demand, and increased investment in fleet modernization as key drivers expected to support truck sales in the year ahead.
“Having achieved our industry truck sales targets in 2025, we are confident about the positive outlook for 2026. With sustained infrastructure development and vibrant economic activity, our member companies are well-prepared to meet the growing demand for reliable, efficient, and innovative commercial vehicles that support the country’s development goals.”
Alongside the sales report, TMA also announced its leadership lineup for 2026. Vicente Mills Jr. of Hino Motors Philippines Corporation will continue as Chairman Emeritus, while Robert Carlos of Isuzu Philippines Corporation will serve as TMA President, overseeing the association’s efforts in industry development, road safety, and sustainable transport initiatives.
TMA also reiterated its focus on road safety and the rollout of more environmentally friendly trucks in the local market. The association continues to support local body application manufacturers and parts suppliers, highlighting their importance to the automotive value chain, small and medium enterprises, and job creation.
“This year, TMA will take a more active role in participating on government programs and initiatives, particularly those focused on road safety, environmental protection and possibilities to strengthen local truck manufacturing. Our member companies have been continuously innovating their products, while integrating advanced safety features and greener technologies - to help support national objectives while delivering dependable transport & business solutions for Filipino businesses nationwide,” added Carlos.
