Tailored navigation is only one of the benefits that this partnership will bring.

Better infotainment for Scania trucks is coming, and it’s a huge overhaul thanks to HERE Technologies. The two companies will be partnering up this 2022 in order to bring a completely new infotainment experience to Scania truck owners and drivers, allowing for a more upgraded experience.

HERE Technologies will provide a connected navigation system for Scania infotainment systems. The HERE mapping software is an infotainment upgrade that can help provide operators with information that’s optimized for vehicles, allowing operators to map out and navigate through routes that allow for large trucks to pass. Unlike Google Maps, HERE is optimized and can be used for big rigs since the former does not allow for a truck mode, instead Google’s navigation software accounts for cars, walking, commuting, and walking, but not something as specialized as trucks.

With HERE, truck operators can provide vehicle dimensions in order to help map out routes that can fit large haulers as is the case with Scania’s lineup. Other information available on the application are points of interest, speed limit, data, and other road information that can be useful for the journey.

That being said, Scania recognizes the importance of good infotainment for a long-haul journey, and the brand says that they will work together with HERE Technologies also in order to develop a new application that will serve as a mobile companion for operators to access certain features in their truck without having to set foot in it. This application’s launch date, however, is still unknown.

It’s interesting to see that Scania is getting in touch with HERE to make its trucks better. Instead of basic infotainment systems and simple navigation, Scania owners will be able to appreciate the convenience and functionality of a dedicated infotainment system with tailored navigation instead of the bog-standard.
