Nowadays, with urban roads becoming more and more congested, smaller vehicles are seeing an upward trend for private individuals. However, the private motorist is not the only one who needs to adapt to congested roads, there are plenty of smaller businesses that do not need large trucks for their day-to-day operations.

With that being said, Mitsubishi has just the right car, the Minicab-MiEV van. This kei-class van fits just right for business owners that do not need the size of vehicles like the L300 commercial vehicle, it’s compact, light, and when you look at it, its even adorable to look at.

The Minicab-MiEv is set to begin production in Indonesia in 2024, the tiny electric-powered van features an underfloor drive battery which helps retain the car’s cargo capacity and its interior space. The setup also allows the car to have a lower center of gravity which should improve its handling characteristics, comfort, and lessen the probability of a rollover.

Although the Minicab-MiEV was first launched in Japan back in 2011, this will be the first time that Minicab-MiEV will be sold outside of its home country. Now, sales resumed in November of 2022, and is making its way to other countries.

“We believe that kei-car class commercial EVs are the optimal solution to the last one-mile problem in logistics. In order to meet the growing demand for EVs in the ASEAN region, we have made the decision to produce this vehicle locally outside of Japan for the first time.”

In the Philippines, the Minicab-MiEV can be a good fit for two-sectors in the country, small, mom-and-pop owned business who don’t need excessively large cars and logistics companies like Mober who wish to utilize more EV commercial vehicles in their lineup. So the question is, will it be a good move for Mitsubishi to sell the Minicab-MiEV here in the Philippines?
