UD Trucks is marking a significant milestone in its history as it celebrates the 10th anniversary of its robust heavy-duty vehicle, the Quester. The Quester, throughout its existence, has been a tangible embodiment of UD Trucks' overarching vision—to build trucks that seamlessly align with the tough demands of the world.

Built with the dedication to fulfilling customer needs and harnessing the brand’s extensive 87-year legacy of Japanese engineering prowess, the Quester stands as a testament to modern engineering. The Quester first rolled out in 2013 on the roads of Thailand. As of today, UD Trucks is thrilled to announce that over the past decade, the Quester has journeyed through more than 46 countries spanning four continents.

Building upon the Quester's established reputation for durability and reliability, the latest Quester introduced significant enhancements, including the ESCOT automated manual transmission, more powerful engines, and intuitive telematics. These improvements were aimed at delivering better fuel efficiency, productivity, drivability, safety, and uptime.

The ESCOT automated manual transmission system utilizes specialized software to optimize gear shifts based on various factors such as engine RPM, vehicle speed, load weight, and road incline. Additionally, it featured a sensor for selecting the most suitable starting gear automatically, enhancing the driving experience.

The automatic gear selection of the New Quester not only aimed to simplify driver training but also improve overall drivability. The user-friendly gear lever with a straightforward shifting pattern was designed to make driving more intuitive, facilitating driver acquisition for companies. All in all, this presents less effort on the part of the driver during long journeys for an overall comfortable driving experience.

Since  2018, all trucks have been equipped with UD Connected Services, establishing a direct link to UD Trucks workshops. This enables real-time monitoring and proactive identification of vehicle status and maintenance needs, averting potential emergencies. Analyzing preventive maintenance provides monthly driving patterns and fuel usage reports, ultimately boosting operational efficiency and long-term fuel economy.

“We are proud of the tremendous achievements Quester has accomplished thus far, UD Trucks is aware that customer needs as well as the industry landscape are always dynamic and changing. We will continue to collaborate, innovate, and most importantly, keep listening to the needs of our customers to ensure that Quester stays true to its promise to “go the extra mile.”

Staying true to its core value of "Made to go the extra mile," the Quester ensures higher uptime through UD Extra Mile Support, offering a widespread network of skilled technicians. This encompasses premium after-sales services like service agreements, connected services, genuine parts, service planning, and thorough vehicle handover training.
