If you’ve ever wanted to test an electric truck without buying it, Daimler Truck has a great proposition, but only for Germany. Daimler Truck has started offering the eActros 600 as part of its CharterWay rental service in Germany. CharterWay lets customers rent trucks for a short or long time, from one day up to three years. Now that the eActros 600 is part of the lineup, businesses can try out this electric model for long-distance transport without having to buy it.
The eActros 600 first went into production in November 2024 and was delivered to its first customers the following month. It’s now the top model in the Mercedes-Benz electric truck range. It uses a battery with over 600 kWh and can travel up to 500 kilometers on one charge. It can also charge up to 400 kW using DC fast charging and will support megawatt charging in the future once the system becomes standard. The truck also has a new electric axle with 400 kW of regular power and up to 600 kW at peak.
Earlier this year, Daimler Truck said it planned to add over 100 units of the eActros 600 to the CharterWay fleet, and since June 2025, that promise has been delivered. The model has already been used by big companies including Amazon, which ordered 200 units in the largest deal so far for this truck. Other users include Brummer Logistik, Lidl Italia, and HIVED in the UK, as well as several of Daimler Truck’s own factory partners.
According to Martin Kehnen, the CEO of CharterWay, the eActros 600 helps businesses try electric transport in a more flexible and low-risk way. It’s meant for customers who want to test how an electric truck works in real routes before deciding if it’s the right fit. The truck also gives more range than older electric trucks, letting drivers go farther without needing extra charging stops.
Customers who rent the eActros 600 also get support beyond the truck itself. CharterWay offers service packages that include help with charging, vehicle maintenance, and digital tools. It’s all part of their “Truck-as-a-Service” setup. Starting early next year, CharterWay will also be moved under Daimler Truck Financial Services, which means customers will get even more connected services, but their existing rental terms and support will stay the same.
While Daimler Truck hasn’t shared how many electric trucks are in the fleet, most of their current electric models are available. It remains to be seen if the eActros 600 or other electric trucks will be offered in the Philippines anytime soon. In the meantime, you can check out the trucks available locally at TruckDeal.com.ph.
