Hino Motors Philippines (HMP), or formerly known as Pilipinas Hino, Inc. is one of the leading manufacturers of medium to heavy-duty trucks and buses in the Philippines that aims to meet the transport needs of businesses from small and medium enterprises up to big corporations in the country. This Japanese truck manufacturer is a joint venture among Filipino investors, Hino Motors, Ltd. and Marubeni Corp. of Japan. Known for its reliable and durable trucks and buses since 1975, HMP has been distributing and assembling quality Hino trucks in the local market for more than 40 years. In 2019, Hino remained as the second top seller truck brand in the Philippines and recorded a cumulative total sales of 3,665 units.
Globally, Hino Motors was established in 1910 in Tokyo as a gas company named Tokyo Gas Industry Company. The company then widened the scale of the business and started to produce electronic parts and eventually had an automobile division. By 1942, the company then shifted to Hino Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. which then produced large diesel engines and later on focused on heavy-duty trucks and buses. Currently, Hino Motors is a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation and part of the major companies under Toyota Group.
HMP has over 20 dealerships around the country. The Japanese truck brand offers a wide range of commercial vehicles such as medium to heavy-duty trucks. Some of its popular models are the 300 Series, 500 Series, and 700 Series for trucks. They also have a variation of the minibus, midi or medium-sized bus, big bus, and PUVs in Class II and Class III.
