Volvo Trucks was founded in 1927 and began manufacturing and selling heavy commercial vehicles in 1928. Their first commercial products were offered with a diesel motor in Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo Trucks was reorganized in 2012 and is now part of the Volvo Group alongside other brands under said group like Renault Trucks, Mack Trucks, and UD Trucks. In total, the Volvo Group has more than 100,000 employees, 18 countries with production facilities, and a presence in 190 markets across the globe. According to historical data, Volvo Trucks produces and sells 190,000 trucks annually. In 2017, the Chinese company, Geely bought a 14% share in Volvo trucks.

In the Philippines, Volvo Trucks has a total of 6 dealerships, with two locations in Luzon, one in the Visayas region, and three in Mindanao. Volvo Trucks has a dealership in Metro Manila, Prime Quest Transport Solutions, Inc., which is based in Quezon City. Up north, in the province of Isabela, Volvo Trucks has a dealership in Cauayan City. Located in the Visayas region is the Cebu dealership of Volvo trucks, which is located in Mandaue City. Then down south in the Mindanao region, you may find Volvo Trucks dealerships in Surigao, Davao, and Cagayan De Oro.
