Daimler Truck and Torc Robotics select Innoviz Technologies as their LiDAR supplier for Level 4 autonomous trucks

Daimler Truck, one of the world’s largest commercial vehicle makers, and its subsidiary Torc Robotics have chosen Innoviz Technologies as their official LiDAR supplier for the production of SAE Level 4 autonomous Class 8 semi-trucks.

Under this partnership, Innoviz will provide its InnovizTwo Short-Range LiDAR sensors, which will serve as key components in Daimler Truck’s autonomous vehicle program. The companies will work together to refine and adapt the sensors for real-world trucking operations, focusing on improved reliability, accuracy, and safety.

The Freightliner Cascadia, Daimler Truck’s main heavy-duty model in North America, will integrate Innoviz’s LiDAR systems alongside Torc’s virtual driver software. Together, these technologies will allow the trucks to navigate highways and regional routes autonomously, improving logistics efficiency and reducing operational risks for fleet operators.

According to Daimler Truck, the goal is to develop and deploy fully autonomous trucks that can operate safely and consistently across a variety of weather and road conditions. Innoviz’s sensors are designed to detect, classify, and track surrounding vehicles and objects in real time, providing the redundancy required for Level 4 autonomy, where vehicles can drive themselves without human input under specific conditions.

The partnership is another huge step in Daimler Truck’s plan to bring autonomous technology into the commercial sector, further strengthening Innoviz’s role as a leading supplier of LiDAR solutions for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Get behind the wheel of your next truck, and visit TruckDeal.com.ph.
