In order to curb the rise of pollutants and further the fight toward sustainability, some countries around the world are implementing clean city zones and business areas in densely populated areas. With this heightened awareness of the value of sustainability and the move to decrease emissions wherever possible, the significance of zero-emission trucks capable of addressing all aspects of urban transportation and logistics has never been greater. In response to these requirements, Volvo Trucks is unveiling its enhanced electric medium-duty trucks—the Volvo FL and FE.

Suited for a variety of urban activities, including distribution, waste handling, and urban construction, the Volvo FL and FE are well-equipped for the demands of bustling cities. According to Volvo, the AC charging capacity of its battery-electric medium-duty trucks has undergone a significant increase, now reaching 43 kW. This enhancement has resulted in a nearly 50 percent reduction in the time required to charge the battery. Additionally, the trucks feature updated battery packs that provide an impressive total range of up to 450 km on a single charge.

Since these trucks will also share the same space as cars, cyclists, and pedestrians in busy streets, safety is of utmost importance. A suite of innovative features has been incorporated to enhance safety for both the driver and other road users, surpassing the European Commission General Safety Regulations set to be enforced in 2024.

In terms of looks, the new FE and FL now carry a sleek and appealing redesign, featuring an updated front end, distinctive LED headlights, and an enhanced iron mark alongside the Volvo wordmark on the front.
